Toronto – Making the most of Ontario’s capital city – Canada’s Wonderland
This is the second part to my three day trip to Toronto. If you haven’t read the first then I encourage you to check it out where I discuss getting to Toronto, navigating Pearson International Airport, and spending my first day at the CN Tower. In this piece I will discuss my second day in Toronto where I decided to spend it in Canada’s Wonderland.
So after waking up half-way up the sky in my sister and her partner’s apartment I thought it was a perfect day to do something exhilarating.
Their apartment was located right beside the harbour and Canada’s Wonderland was around 40km north of Downtown Toronto. If you have to rely on public transport then catch the Route 60 Go Transit bus from York Mills bus station. I love the US and Canada because their bus stations are laid out so well making it extremely easy to navigate, plus their buses are quite comfortable – Nothing compared with Avanza’s buses in Madrid however, they were futuristic.
I am a massive fan of theme parks and roller coasters. My first ever roller coaster was The Hulk in the Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando – what an introduction to the world of roller coasters – and so ever since then I’ve been in love with them.
Canada’s Wonderland is huge. The theme park sits on 330 acres of land and it has absolutely everything a thrill seeker could look for. I don’t have any photographs unfortunately as I put my phone into my locker so I apologise for the lack of snaps!
I always find with theme parks there will be one or two roller coasters that are “the” roller coasters to go on, but at Canada’s Wonderland, there were countless amount of roller coasters that were all incredible.
Unfortunately it started to rain while I was on one and as I was flying around the rain started to hit my face like tiny little daggers so that wasn’t very nice!
The food on offer was fairly standard although we did decide to go for some fancier food as opposed to just the standard snack food. We bought a buffet and it was quite decent in fairness.
Chicken, ribs, pastas, salads, burgers, hot dogs, breads, desserts and many other foods and drinks were available – all you can eat as well which is always a plus.
I think what separates a five star theme park to a four star theme park is what other things there are to do other than roller coasters. People usually spend the day at a theme park and would eat a decent meal – no-one is going to hop on a roller coaster straight after eating, so to have other things to do that aren’t too strenuous on your stomach are a big plus.
There are tonnes of small arcade games, sideshow attractions, and shows that take place regularly at Canada’s Wonderland so it offers a lot.
Canada’s Wonderland also has a water park but we didn’t bother with it that day, we were there for the roller coasters!
We got our Go Transit bus back to York Mills and then from there back on home. As anyone who has ever been to a theme park would know, it can be pretty exhausting. So when we got home we ordered some Five Guys to the apartment and watched Interstellar – a pretty decent way to finish the day if you ask me!
This is the second day of my trip to the wonderful city of Toronto so be sure to stay tuned for Day 3 coming out Tuesday, October 24th.
