So I thought happy days. Not only was I intrigued to know what the Top 10 destinations were for Irish travellers but I also though it was pretty sweet of them to offer up to 15% off. Just look out for the “mid-year deal” icon when you click the link!

Lo and behold they emailed me the Top 10 travel destinations for Irish travellers and here they are.

1. Paris

No surprise really here is there? I mean the city of love, the city of superb architecture, the city of lovely tasty french pastries and cuisine…

via GIPHY

Okay so there is so much to Paris, I was fortunate enough to spend one night in this city climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower and it really was spectacular.

The language is spectacular, the food.. I already said the food but it’s so good! But seriously, art, museums, history, nightlife, sport, Paris has it all!

And if you’re getting there from Ireland, it’s so close!!

Is Paris one of your must-visit travel destinations? If so, click on this highlighted text to check out some cheeky mid-year deals on accommodation in Paris, deals so good they’ll have you saying voulez vous coucher avec moi, ce soir… whatever that means.

2. New York City

Ah New York City, like if there ever was a city that I just absolutely fell in love with at first site it was this one. I spent three months in New York City on a J1, of those three months I remember about 2 weeks..

via GIPHY

I haven’t been to all of the cities (just yet, I am planning on it) but New York City is by far the most funnest city I’ve ever been to. I love my home city of Dublin and Dublin nightlife is unreal.

But when it comes to just having fun, not caring, and having a great night, New York City is one of the best travel destinations that can give you that!

But besides nightlife you have amazing restaurants that cater to all tastes and ethnicities whether you’re a meat-eater, vegetarian, or vegan.

The people are really quite supportive, even if they’re a complete stranger, you could chat to anyone and they would give you the encouragement to chase your dreams and that is pretty awesome.

But it doesn’t stop there, the museums: The Met, The Guggenheim, The Natural History Museum.. I mean the list goes on and on and on.

But one of the best things about New York City is the buzz of the place. The energy levels are at a max over there and you are just so pumped full of energy! Which is needed if you are going to remortgage your house and spend all of your money on 5th Avenue because let’s by honest… why not?!

It’s no wonder New York City is on the list, read about New York’s Best Open Top Bar, The World Trade Centre, and the Beetle House restaurant.

Get your hands on some cheeky mid-year hotel deals in New York City! Some of these are quite literally a steal.. if I wasn’t going on an interrail soon I’d be snatching some up.

3. London

So despite only being a 30 minute flight from London, I’ve never been, which is really quite bad now that I think about it.

I think if I was to go over I’d get an early morning flight on the Saturday, stay that night and then an evening flight back on a Sunday.

via GIPHY

I’d go see Buckingham Palace of course, the London Eye, Big Ben, I’d check out Canary Wharf because I like skyscrapers, ride on the Underground, pose for a Beetle inspired photo crossing Abbey Road and I suppose just soak up the culture. I think that would be definitely doable during an overnight trip! Have you been to London and want to share your blogs? Get in touch with on the contact form above or send me an email: [email protected]!

So if London is one of your top travel destinations and you want some proper mid-year deals on accommodation then check these out. I actually think I might plan this for around Christmas time 2018!

4. Rome

Okay now this is some place special. I spent three days in Rome and boy was it superb. Italy is in my Top 3 countries of all time and Rome is a major reason why.

Talking about Rome, you talk about a lifestyle, a culture. Fiercely proud of their heritage and history, Italians have beautifully maintained their monumental buildings and structures built hundreds and thousands of years ago.

via GIPHY

Meticulously maintained, sights such as the breathtaking Colosseum, The Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, The Roman Forum, and of course The Vatican (technically its own state), just make you feel like you are stepping back in time and being a bit of a history nerd, I absolutely loved it.

I don’t have to tell you about the food, pizza is life, and nowhere does it better than Italy. I loved the idea of sitting around a table with your family for a prolonged period of time, chatting, sipping on some wine, eating multiple courses, eating with your hands, sharing food, and just altogether it really is a superb travel destination – no wonder it’s on the list.

If you’re planning on getting away to Rome then check out these deals and not miss out on the opportunity to visit Rome, one of the literal, heaven-on-earth travel destinations.

5. Bangkok

Being the capital of Thailand it doesn’t necessarily shock me that Bangkok is one of the top travel destinations. It seems almost a right of passage for young Irish travellers to visit Thailand and rightly so.

I am yet to visit but that is in the works at the moment. Located right beside Vietnam I was hoping to incorporate it into a tour of Japan, South Korea, China, Philippines, Vietnam and then Thailand.

The Grand Palace looks absolutely amazing and the Chatuchak Market looks like it would be good fun!

It is just a matter of time before I head over and finally get to explore Asia but if that time is now for you then why not check out some mid-year deals and grab yourself a bargain!

6. Barcelona

Barcelona has been in the news quite a lot recently and I was wondering what the implications of the Tourists go Home marches have had on interest in Barcelona and then of course the Catalonian calls for independence (of which Barcelona is the capital of).

But it doesn’t seemed to have mattered much to Irish travellers as it is still one of the Top 10 Travel Destinations for Irish Travellers!

Barcelona is a classic travel destination. It has the sand, sun, and Sagrada Familia!

If you don’t recognise the name you will most likely recognise the story! The Sagrada Familia is a Roman Catholic Church designed by the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. Construction began in 1882 and is still continuing to this day! It is expected the church will be finished in 2026 on the 100-year anniversary of Antoni Gaudi’s death.

It is a remarkable sight to see and one that would be fabulous to see before it is finished and after it is finished! I loved visiting it but I what really gave my chills was visiting Camp Nou – the home of the world class football team Barcelona FC.

The stadium has a capacity of just under 100,00 and is bleedin’ massive!!

In all seriousness if you are a fan of football then this place is a must-visit. You can walk around what can only be described as a museum dedicated to Barcelona Football Club and see photos, footballs, and items belonging to the legends that played there.

It is really something special! And not to forget or anything but you are in Spain (for now anyways, time will tell), so the weather is great, the beers are cheap, and the beach is amazing! Check out these cheeky mid-year deals available to you for the wonderful Barcelona!

7. Amsterdam

Okay, a few things pop into people’s minds when they think about Amsterdam, I can understand why.

For many Europeans it is a party place where they can do things that wouldn’t be legal in their own country, but there is far more to Amsterdam than that.

For one I just loved the city’s canals, lazily meandering through the busy streets is a really nice way to travel and I wish it was something that I could do in Dublin!

via GIPHY

There are some really spectacular museums in Amsterdam and you can of course visit the place where one of the world’s most famous writers wrote her diary while in hiding.

Amsterdam is a lot of fun, so rather than write it all here you can read about the awesome (and cheap) Rock the City tour of Amsterdam where you get to swing off the top of a building that’s like a thousand feet in the air; learn about, and get drunk in, the original Heineken brewery; and then take that meandering canal ride I was telling you about. If you want to know more about the culture, read this.

So Amsterdam is a lot of fun and can be quite cheap to stay in! I stayed in the Q-Factory hotel which was perfect for me! If you think Amsterdam is one of your top travel destinations then check out these  deals available for Amsterdam!

8. Tokyo

Tokyo seems so futuristic to me I just can’t wait to visit. Ever since I found out they have robotic public toilets that did it for me!

But in all seriousness I cannot wait to try the sushi over in Tokyo and get to experience the Japanese culture. It seems so rich in history and forward thinking that i think I will really like it there!

via GIPHY

Like I said about Bangkok I hope to incorporate it into my travels through Asia and I really look forward to the day I set foot in Tokyo.

If that day for you is coming up, why not check out these accommodation deals booking.com has to offer?

9. Lisbon

I have been to Lisbon twice and I know I will be back there again very soon! Lisbon is one of the most relaxing cities I have ever been to, which is not something you hear quite often when it comes to cities.

I loved the Bairro Alto because it is just such a fun place to spend a night out. Drinks are cheap and everyone is having a good time. There are some hidden restaurants that offer some seriously tasty food for seriously good value.

via GIPHY

A train away is the gorgeous riverside town of Belém and further town the line is Sintra, home to Quinta da Regaleira – an absolutely stunning castle and gardens.

Click the names above in orange to read about these places and after they’ve convinced you to go to Lisbon, check out these mid-year deals!

10. Florence

I’ve never been to Florence but is looks super romantic and full of renaissance era architecture. It’s Italy we’re talking about here, of course it is going to be amazing! If Florence is your next destination then be sure to check out these mid-year deals, you might just bag yourself a bargain!

So there you have it, the Top 10 Travel Destinations for Irish Travellers, according to Booking.com. Disclosure: Those links to the mid-year deals are affiliate links meaning if you were to book a hotel then I would receive a small percentage! It doesn’t make it more expensive for you, in fact it’s the complete opposite as you are getting up to 15% off, just look for the mid-year deal icon – you can’t miss it! So yeah… you should really be thanking me! But if you would share this then that’s all the thanks I need! ‘Til next time…
