Catching Zzz and waves at Oahu’s Turtle Bay
Oahu is Hawaii’s most populated island and is world famous for its city Honolulu, home to Pearl Harbour and Waikiki beach. Honolulu is situated at the south of the island and premier hotels with modern and unique twists line the Waikiki beach area to provide a fantastic mix between rest, relaxation, and the busy hum of city life. However, at the completely opposite side of the island lies a magical retreat. Turtle Bay Resort & Hotel is the definition of luxury travel. In an isolated expanse on Oahu’s famed North Shore the resort manages to combine the best of Oahu’s natural beauty with the best a hotel has to offer.
Situated by itself, like a lighthouse of luxury, the resort is the ultimate in holiday destination. World class restaurants with renowned chefs serve an enlightening culinary experience with every meal. The hotel makes the most of its location offering the best seafood I have tried to date. With multiple bars and restaurants offering different tastes and atmospheres you are spoiled for choice!
The hotel offers every amenity you can imagine with spa treatments, private pools, jacuzzis, saunas and yoga classes with it’s very own quiet reflection area. To sum up, the resort offers, to the highest standard the very best in what any hotel can offer their guests, but Turtle Bay doesn’t just stop at amenities, it even has nature working in its favour.
To one side of the hotel you have a huge golden sand beach with crystal clear water, so clear you might as well be swimming in tap water. Bring your snorkel and mask or rent one out of supplies store and go exploring. 20 meters out from the beach and there are rock beds where all sorts of colourful and exotic fish can be spotted. It’s exhilarating to see and never has it been so easy to be up close and personal with some of these beautiful creatures.
To the other side of the hotel there is no beach, but there is the perfect place to watch the sunset. Every evening people pull out chairs and watch on as they witness one of the most beautiful sunsets, and if you’re lucky you might be there just as surfers from famous competitions are competing for first prize.
By my definition of true luxury, this is it. You can find a hotel that will charge you $10,000 a night to have a multi-floor, completely modern hotel room that is able to make your breakfast somehow, but when it comes to ultimate luxury – combining outstanding service with unique experiences and devastatingly beautiful scenery, Turtle Bay resort has it all.
