Lázně Pramen Beer Spa – A must-do attraction in Prague

Prague is pretty well known for its beer but how do you feel about bathing in it? If that sounds like something you’d be interested in then Lázně Pramen Beer Spa is where you want to be!

Tub Lázně Pramen Beer Spa

1,000 litre, oak wood, whirlpool tub for 1-2 people at Lázně Pramen Beer Spa.

When you arrive at Lázně Pramen Beer Spa, whoever is on reception will bring you down to the room you have reserved and they will walk you through what is available in your room, how to pour the beer from the tap, and what to do if you need emergency assistance.

The Room

The first thing you will notice in the room is the balmy 30*C it is set to and then of course the beautiful oak wood tub, filled with 1,000 litres of water set to 35-38*C.

In the room is also a straw, wooden bed with cushions and blankets to relax on, an electric fire place accompanied by wooden logs, two pairs of cotton flip-flops, towels, and a fresh water shower.

The Tub

If you were instantly turned off by the idea off stewing in your favourite brew don’t fret because the tub is actually filled with hops, malt, filtered water and a little splash of Kynšperský Zajíc – a traditional Czech beer. It essentially smelled like a facial mask!

I was surprised how smooth the oak wood was and according to their website the bathtubs are made according to the traditions of the cooper art without any use of anchors, adhesives or paints, so they are completely environmentally friendly.

Allegedly, due to the absence of chemical treatment, the wood is in direct contact with the water and saturates it with its medicinal components.

All I know is, it was very smooth and was quite comfortable. There was a ledge on either end of the tub for two people to sit on or one person to stretch out and put their feet up.

The Beer

Of course, it wouldn’t be a beer spa without beer on tap, and at Lázně Pramen Beer Spa there are two types available: light and dark beer. The beer is of course unlimited.

I had the light beer and it was one of the tastiest beers I had in my entire trip to Prague. I believe it was Kozel pale ale.

There is also a dark variant available but I’m not a fan so I avoided it. With the beer are two pint glasses and two half pint glasses.

Due to the fact you are in a spa and the company doesn’t want you to get too drunk, the whirlpool tub is turned off after 20 minutes, and then when you are ready to head back in you just press a button which alerts the reception desk that you want them to turn it back on again.

The Experience

Altogether the entire trip to Lázně Pramen Beer Spa was one of my favourite things to do in Prague. It was so unique and relaxing. Typically in Prague you will walk for miles exploring all of the intricate city streets so it’s nice to be able to put your feet up and just chill out!

A bell will ring when you have ten minutes left and be ready to leave the room. You can choose to have a shower or let all of the minerals and anti-oxidants work their magic on your body.

Upon leaving you get a small present of two bottles of beer and a brochure. I couldn’t say a bad word about the staff who were extremely friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.

Recommendations

I recommend booking two hours as we were able to fit in three sessions in the whirlpool, with a single hour you will only be able to fit in one and a half if you are lucky and you will wish you booked more time!

Packing: No need for towels, or slippers/dressing gown. A swimsuit is perfect, a plastic bag for your wet gear, shower gel/shampoo if you don’t want to use the shower gel supplied, makeup/deodorant etc. AND a bottle of water will definitely be needed for when you leave or even while you’re at the spa!
